Fast forward to 2017, these noiseniks have performed in festivals and in countries such as Australia, UK, USA, France, South Korea, China, Indonesia, India, Spain, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Japan.
They share festival bills and stages with the likes of the Beastie Boys, Robert Plant, Femi Kuti, The Dhol Foundation, Chico Cesar, Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, Jimmy Cliff, and many more artists of varying genres. The band has been an opening act for Hoobastank at Coliseum Hard Rock Sentosa [ read the article here ] (2014) and The Black Eyed Peas at the Singapore Indoor Stadium (2004).
An EP OK GO and two full length albums, Louder Than Light and the Beginning The End was released in 2005, 2008 and 2016 respectively. Their songs boasts the best of Afro-Brazilian percussion rhythms with rock, reggae, funk and everything in between. Methodical and brazen, it is a sound that had been honed through 14 years of musical evolution; from the streets of Singapore to playing international stages the world over. The chemistry and synergy of the band has to be experienced live to be believed. IN 2007, one of their demo tracks, Fight was shortlisted by The BBC’s Next Big Thing; a global search for the future of music. Wicked Aura was the only Asian band to be shortlisted that year.
This August 2017, the band has completed their inaugural Japan Tour, which included 3 full house local shows and the performance at the notorious mega festival Summer Sonic 2017 (Tokyo) with an exceptional turn out at the Island Stage.
The band has made a huge impact in the Japanese independent music scene collaborating with notorious bands, and already begun 2018 Summer booking for Japan tour, with distribution expected to start once the year opens.
Imagine one big party with Olodum, Parliament Funkadelic, The Clash, Faith No More and Rage Against The Machine and you might have a slight idea of the sonic assault that is WICKED AURA.
INSPIRE & NURTURE
Wicked Aura is dedicated towards the progression and propagation of music and art. As such, the band is committed towards organizing percussive and music education, both through organizing workshops and going into schools. Our focus lies in firstly exposure for students and our audience to the rhythm, drumming and percussion culture, and secondly in imparting skills to keen learners.
We are very supportive of music education in schools and are able to cater to the needs of specific institutions to fit our programmes into school assemblies, school camps and one-time workshops as well as extended co-curricular or extra-curricular lesson plans throughout the school terms or semesters.
Apart from large-scale festivals and shows, Wicked Aura also lends their shine to corporate events of various magnitudes. From product launches to anniversaries and Dinner-and-Dances, the band never fails to bring up the heat and stir up excitement in the atmosphere.
Wicked Aura is also committed to explore various methods to integrate fresh ideas and choreography into their music for our corporate engagement, thus lending a special touch unique to the event.
